Quality Assurance Engineer - Milwaukee, WI

Summary

This position holds significant responsibility for ensuring that all products meet stringent quality standards. A quality assurance engineer promotes the quality of a company's products or services. A quality assurance engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain quality standards, provide training to employees, identify areas for improvement, and analyze data. They also conduct audits and inspections to identify non-conformances and implement corrective actions as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Quality Management System (QMS) Development: Collaborate with the quality manager to develop and maintain an effective QMS tailored to meet the specific quality requirements of OEM customers in the wire and cable industry. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, certifications, and customer specifications.

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. Utilize quality metrics, data analysis, and root cause analysis techniques to identify areas for improvement. Lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving initiatives and drive process optimization projects to enhance overall product quality.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of industry regulations and standards relevant to wire and cable manufacturing. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and customer-specific requirements. Maintain accurate documentation and records to demonstrate compliance during audits and inspections.

Specific tasks:

  • Monitor, create and analyze quality assurance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Communicate and track any quality risks, gaps or issues;

  • Have responsibilities in the process of traceability of requirements through to final inspection and defect lists;

  • Own the process of creating metrics to measure and monitor product performance;

  • Establish, document, and enhance QA processes; train team members on those processes;

  • Plan, develop, and execute CI strategy across products and platforms;

  • Work on building a Quality driven engineering culture that helps ship products rapidly and with good confidence;

  • Be Subject Matter Expert (IPC) and provide training to local employees as needed on compliance.

  • Support Customer complaint investigations with inspections and returned product.

  • Write, review and revise written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process flow, WI, CP, PFMEA and submit procedural changes to meet Corporate and Industries requirements.

  • Support Internal/external assessments.

  • Identify training needs and take action to ensure company is in compliance.

  • Lead and maintain the calibration system.

  • Maintain and managed the chemical compliance records from suppliers and internal.

  • Maintain the document control system.

  • Participates in auditing in production areas and systems.

  • Review supplier production part approval documentations and provide feedback to the supplier.

  • Create and prepared production part approval documentation to the customer.

  • Other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or relative field

  • Proven experience (2+ years) in quality engineer or QA role.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of quality management systems, methodologies, and tools (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).

  • Familiarity with wire and cable manufacturing processes and relevant industry standards (e.g, IPC/WHMA-A-610, -A-620, and J-STD-001).

  • Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements and industry certifications applicable to wire and cable manufacturing.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers.

  • Leadership abilities to motivate and guide other teams with no direct report.

  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality products and services.

Must be continually improving the methods or means of performance for the company, and employees by introducing innovations that improve processes that include both business and manufacturing systems. These continual improvements shall meet the customer and company requirements for quality, delivery, and profitability.

This position has a large impact on Internal and customer relations, our customers need to be confident that the organization can provide a high-quality experience through the Quality Management System.

Efficient response and resolution to customer and company issues that arise help develop strong relationships both internally and externally with customers.


Contact with Others:

This position requires contact with Executive Leadership, Department Managers / Leads, Shop Floor Technicians, and Office Personnel. This position also requires contact with customer buyers, quality personnel, managers, and engineers. Third party auditors, safety and health regulatory persons may also be points of contact as required.

Working Conditions:

This position is in a manufacturing environment where lifting, bending, standing, sitting, and walking are routine.

Base Salary of $60K-$70K + Bonus
