Job description
The Level 3 Switchgear Field Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical switchgear systems in the field. This role requires technical expertise and hands-on experience with switchgear ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical equipment at customer sites. The engineer will serve as a technical lead, providing guidance to junior staff and collaborating with clients to resolve complex issues.

Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on switchgear and related electrical systems.
Complete commissioning and testing procedures for new and upgraded / retrofit switchgear installations.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company protocols during all field operations.
Document service activities, generate technical reports, and communicate findings to clients and project teams.
Mentor and support Level 1 and Level 2 field engineers, sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
Travel to various customer sites as required, sometimes on short notice, to address urgent system issues.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience with switchgear systems or power generation systems, medium voltage preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and field service protocols.
Ability to work independently and lead technical projects in the field.
Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to work outdoors and in challenging environments.
Comfortable with extended periods of standing, bending, and climbing.
Base pay of $80K-$85K (non-exempt) + OT and company truck - Previous switchgear or power generation systems experience is required.
