CNC Manufacturing Engineer – North Central Massachusetts

Responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.  You will work closely with cross-functional teams including design engineers, machinists, and quality assurance teams to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement efficient CNC machining processes, including tooling, fixtures, & programming for multi-axis CNC machines.

  • Create & optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, ensuring compliance with product specifications & quality standards.

  • Analyze manufacturing workflows & identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.

  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new products, offering DFM (Design for Manufacturability) input during the design phase.

  • Lead troubleshooting & root-cause analysis for manufacturing issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Evaluate & select CNC equipment, tooling, & technologies to support production needs.

  • Establish & maintain process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, & standard operating procedures.

  • Train & mentor machine operators & other staff on CNC processes, best practices, & quality standards.

  • Support Lean Manufacturing & continuous improvement initiatives, including 6S, Six Sigma, & Kaizen projects.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, & regulatory requirements in all manufacturing processes.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining and process engineering.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with CNC machine programming, setup & operation. This includes advanced skills like probe & macro programming.

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks CAD, Esprit CAM, NX CAM, or equivalent) including simulation software (Vericut).

  • In-depth knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining (e.g., 3, 4, & 5-axis mills, & multi axis mill-turn lathes).

  • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASNI Y14.5) & blueprint reading.

  • Extensive knowledge & use of common metrology & measurement systems.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles & process optimization, including total process ownership.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills & ability to perform root cause analysis.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with PC-DMIS CMM programming and/or automation engineering.

  • Experience in firearms manufacturing.

  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (preferably Epicor) for production planning.

  • Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt, AS9100, or ISO 9001 experience.


Base Salary of $140K - $150K + $30K sign-on bonus + relocation package (up to $30K to move and get settled). Must have 5+ years of CNC machining and process engineering. hands-on experience with CNC machine programming, setup & operation, strong problem solving/communication skills. Massive plus for firearm engineering experience as well as a degree in engineering.
