This role is responsible for maintaining payroll systems and processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll for multiple states in compliance with federal and state regulations (IRS, FLSA, etc.). Duties include reviewing and uploading timesheet information from various systems, entering data into the payroll system, calculating pay, and distributing funds or checks to employees.
Process end to end weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for associates across more than 45 locations.
Audit, balance, and correct new hire data and payroll time records.
Calculate payroll liabilities, including federal and state income tax, social security/ Medicare, and unemployment.
Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities.
Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and create journal entries.
Prepare reports that include taxable and non-taxable earnings, deductions, withholding, retirement contributions, and various types of leave.
Make adjustments for raises, bonuses, and commission.
Process paper checks for distribution.
Process child support orders, levies, and garnishments.
Assist with year-end W-2 creation
Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee questions.
Work closely with HR and store operations to investigate and troubleshoot issues.
High school diploma or equivalent required, associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Retail experience (multi-unit/multi-state preferred).
Background within a private or family-owned business preferred.
Experience with ukg/ultipro payroll processing preferred.
Strong computer SKILLS: intermediate excel (pivot TABLES, VLOOKUPS) required
Previous payroll processing experience required.
