Junior Field Service Engineer - Chicago, IL

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Entry Level - GYO (Grow-Your-Own) Field Service Engineer to join our Chicago team. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual with a strong interest in electrical work and a willingness to learn.


As a Grow Your Own Uninterrupted Power Supply Field Service Engineer, your role is to support and maintain uninterrupted power supply systems in various locations. You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining UPS systems, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring client uptime through quality workmanship,



Duties and Responsibilities

Installation and Configuration:

  • Install UPS systems for critical infrastructure and equipment.

  • Configure UPS systems according to specific requirements and power loads.


Routine Inspection and Maintenance:

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure UPS systems are in good working condition.

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as battery replacements and system upgrades.

  • Keep an inventory of UPS components and manage spare part replacements.


Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:

  • Respond to issues and outages promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Diagnose system faults and identify root causes of UPS failures.

  • Implement corrective actions and repairs to restore the power supply.


System Evaluations

  • Calculate and evaluate power loads to ensure optimum UPS performance.

  • Recommend necessary upgrades or modifications to meet changing power demands.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of UPS installations, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Create detailed reports on equipment performance, issues, and resolutions.

  • Collaborate with team members to improve procedures and documentation standards.


Training

  • Proper training to aid with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems, batteries and other equipment will be given and successful passing of classes.

  • Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings.

  • Perform Preventive maintenance under the direction of senior technicians.

  • Troubleshoot electrical issues by testing electrical circuits, components, and systems.

  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to industry regulations.

  • Electrical Theory, Battery Theory, and individual systems will be taught.

  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently.

  • Continuously develop skills and knowledge in the electrical field through training and education.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • The desire to learn Basic understanding of electrical principles and concepts.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Former Military is a desire as more than 50 percent of team is former military.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.

  • Prior experience or knowledge in electrical work is a plus but not required


Base Salary of $65K + $550 monthly car allowance. Work with a Senior Field Service Engineer in the Critical Power industry to learn the trade and become a Field Service Engineer. Previous electrical troubleshooting required.
